I’m very proud to have the opportunity to serve as the next Metro Councilperson representing Nashville’s 8th District. The good people of our district have placed their trust in me and we are going to hit the ground running!
As a council member, my top priorities will be to protect and enhance the amazing diversity of our neighborhoods, and to ensure that the incredible potential of the Gallatin and Dickerson Rd corridors will be realized.
The secret is out. North Inglewood and Madison are the next best thing about Nashville. We will become a reason to love this city as much as East Nashville, Germantown, 12th South, or Antioch.
I would like to thank my amazing campaign team, lead by SBA Strategies, and the 255 people and organizations that gave their time, money, and hearts to help achieve this goal.
Special thanks to my wife, Joan VanReece. You have had my heart for over 27 years. Without your thoughtful wisdom and encouragement, I would not be where I am today.
As a member of the creative class, the entrepreneurial class, and the first out lesbian elected to a legislative body in Tennessee, I am thrilled to bring fresh, creative approaches to what lies ahead.
Progress never happens in a vacuum and I look forward to working with my fellow members of council, the new Vice Mayor, David Briley and our new Mayor, Megan Barry.
Indeed, Nashville’s best years are yet to come and it is my honor to help ensure that they do.
